William A. ‘Bill’ Blair
Atchison, KS

William A. ‘Bill’ Blair, 75, Atchison, KS, passed away peacefully, Sunday, June 24, 2012 at his home. 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Rachel Dannar officiating.  Mr. Blair will be cremated following the service and private family burial of cremains will be at a later date in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery.  Memorials in honor of Bill are suggested to the Atchison Family YMCA or the Atchison Area United Way and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home.  Condolences to the family may be left at

Bill was born September 9, 1936 in Kansas City, MO, the son of William W. and Julia (Hamilton) Blair.  He attended school in Atchison and graduated from Atchison High School in 1954.  Bill joined the Army and served in the 82nd Airborne Division.  He was Chairman of the Board of the Blair Milling & Elevator Company belonging to the Kansas City Feed Club and A.F.I.A.  Bill was very active in the Atchison Area United Way, was a member of the Atchison YMCA Board and Elks Club.   He was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church serving as an Elder, Deacon and on the Finance Committee. Bill loved spending time at the lake, boating and fishing.  He also enjoyed hunting, especially quail, pheasant and duck.  Bill’s grandchildren were very important to him and he loved spending time with them. 

Bill married Pam Hixon Coyle on October 10, 1992 in Atchison.  Pam survives of the home.  Additional survivors include sons, Wes Blair, Atchison, KS, Bart Blair, Atchison, KS, and David Blair, Lawrence, KS; daughter, Elizabeth Anderson ‘Andy’ Bayard and her husband, Dave, Raleigh, NC; step-son, Clinton Coyle and his wife, Brandi, Kansas City, MO; step-daughter, Katie Bilderback and her husband, Chad, Atchison, KS; and 10 grandchildren, Melissa Bates, Austin Blair, Corbin Townsend, Luke, Cole , Adam & Anderson Noonan, Aiden, Jackson & Blair Bilderback. 

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Sara Turner and a daughter-in-law, Julie Blair.
