Eva May Bolz, 76, Topeka, formerly of Meriden, died Sunday Oct. 14, 2018, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

She was born April 27, 1942, northwest of Meriden, the daughter of Johnnie and Glena May Martin Bolz. She graduated from Point Pleasant Country School and later Hoyt High School in 1961.

Eva May grew up on the family farm doing many chores and jobs associated with rural life at that time. In high school, she cared for neighborhood children at their home.

Eva May had worked at several businesses in Topeka, including Hall’s Lithography, American Yearbook, American Bindery, Southwest Publishing, Wolfe’s Printing, Western Bindery, Standard Heart and Adam’s Business Forms. She had also worked at the Topeka Police Department. 

Her sister, Mildred Holiday, died Jan. 13, 1974. Eva May moved into her home in 1975 to care for two of Mildred’s daughters, Nickie Lynn and Jamie May Holiday.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Glen and Fred Bolz.

Eva May loved her pets, especially cats that were in her home and at the farm at Meriden.

Survivors include five nieces, Mildred Jo (Vicente) Arreola, Jamie Monroe, Nickie (Eustacio) Camargo, all of Topeka, Rita Manker, Wakarusa, and Sharon Dinnell, CA; three nephews, Dr. Tim Bolz, Topeka, Rick Bolz, Denison, and Ronald Bolz, Lyndon; many great-nieces and nephews; and her life-long friend, Judy Darnell, Mayetta.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, at Mercer Funeral Home, Valley Falls. Burial will follow at Muddy Creek Cemetery, northwest of Meriden. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday.
