Robert “Bob” Lee Claas, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 15, 2018, at his home in Seneca.

Bob was born on January 8, 1948 to John Louis and Lily Louise Luginbill Claas in Seneca. Bob attended 1st-5th grade at Flush Grade School; and graduated from Sts. Peter & Paul High School with the Class of 1967. On December 21, 1967 Bob enlisted to serve his country, where he served in the US Army as a Sharpshooter. He served for two years, eleven months and twenty-eight days before being honorable discharged.

He married Patricia Mueting on November 22, 1973 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca.

Bob was employed in Topeka as a milk carrier before returning to Seneca; where he was employed by Big B’s Meat Department for 25 years. He served the City of Seneca for 24 years as Mayor and Council Member.

He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and St Joseph’s Society; as well as the American Legion and VFW. Bob was a Cardinals fan who enjoyed working in his yard and garden. He also found pleasure in bowling and politics.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1991; his mother in 2006; a brother, John, in 1962 due to an automobile accident; and an infant sister, Darlene.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years; sons, Ryan Claas of Manhattan, Jamie Claas of Marysville, Jeremy (Jessica) Claas of Kansas City, David Claas of Jefferson City and Marc Claas of Manhattan; and grandchildren, Gwyn Claas, Calli Claas, Braeden Claas and Parker Claas.

Rosaries will be prayed at 2 and 7 P.M. at the Lauer Funeral Home on Thursday, October 18, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday morning at 11AM, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.

Memorials may be left in Bob’s memory to Valley Hope.
