Donald R. Dial, 81, Topeka, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018, at a Topeka hospital.

He was born July 27, 1937, at Topeka, the son of Leslie and Wilma Scheiber Dial. He graduated from Valley Falls High School and attended the University of Arizona for two years. He served in the US Air Force.

Don worked in Topeka at Sante Fe in the Payroll Department and retired after 42 years of service.

He was a high school boys football and basketball referee for 40 years and an umpire for slow pitch softball. Don enjoyed being a father and grandfather and was dedicated in following their participation in sports and other activities.

He married Margaret M. Love, April 6, 1963, at Burlingame. She died April 14, 2018.

Survivors include his son, Scott (Janet) Dial, Topeka; his brother, Roland Dial, Topeka; his sister, Kay Rigdon, Tecumseh; and four grandchildren, Alexis, Taryn, Manning, and Easton. 

 A Memorial Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, 2018, at Highland Heights Christian Church, 2930 SE Tecumseh Rd, Topeka.    

Private inurnment will be at the Valley Falls Cemetery.
