Joyce E. Moore, 85   of rural Hiawatha, died late Saturday evening, November 10, 2018, at the Hiawatha Community Hospital.

She was born at Rushing, Arkansas, August 8, 1933, one of six children born to the late Joseph Garland and Wilma Orvella Badberry Nelms and came to northeast Kansas in her early high school years and later graduated from Sabetha High School.

Joyce enjoyed every aspect of being a farm wife.  She enjoyed the rural life, gardening, raising chickens, and collecting antiques.

She married John A. Moore, April 4, 1954, at the Sabetha Congregational Church.  They farmed and operated a dairy all of their married life, which their children a part of the operation as well.  They continued to live on the farm even though they retired from the dairying in 1984. 

He died May 22, 2014.  She was also preceded in death by a grandson Ben in 2002.

Survivors include four children; five siblings in northwest Arkansas; seven grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren

Cremation is planned with a private family inurnment at the Morrill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hiawatha Community Hospital sent in care of Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, 124 S 7th St., Hiawatha 66434, who is assisting the family.
