The Rev. Gerald D. Buss died on Friday, November 23, 2018 in Hiawatha, Kansas at the age of 87.  Gerald was born in September of 1931 on the farm of his parents, Paul and Mabel Buss, near Pierce, Nebraska.  He graduated from Pierce High School in 1949.  

Gerald’s early adult life included farming and serving in the Army for two years.  In 1952 he married Deloris Stonacek, and in 1958 he enrolled in seminary.  After completing a Master’s of Divinity, Gerald was ordained in 1964, and served churches in Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Colorado and Kansas.  In 1996 he retired as a pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  Gerald and Deloris retired in Hiawatha, Kansas.

Gerald was predeceased by his son, Anthony Buss.  He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Deloris Buss; children Cathy Mueller, David Buss, Jerry Buss, Tim Buss, DeAnn Windibiziri and Sara Buss; 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Oaks Indian Mission, PO Box 130, Oaks, OK 74359; Upper Wolf Lutheran Church; or Habitat for Humanity.

Burial will take place at 10:30 AM on Friday, November 30, 2018 at the Upper Wolf Lutheran Church Cemetery, 1803 Sumac Road, Robinson, Kansas 66532.  A memorial service will follow at 11 AM at Upper Wolf Lutheran Church, with a luncheon afterward.
