Michael Floyd Jim, Sr., 55, of Mayetta, KS passed away Monday, November 26, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka after a brief illness. He was born May 19, 1963 in Holton, KS the son of Paulino and Cornelia (Harrison) Jim, Sr.

Mike graduated from Royal Valley High School. He also graduated from Haskell Indian Nations University, obtaining an Associates Degree in electronics and computer technology. He also attended the University of Kansas. Mike worked for the Federal Aviation Administration. He was a very productive member of the community who at the same time never wanted credit. He had more knowledge than most, so you could say “he was a man of many trades”. But the job he was really good at was helping his family and friends, especially his mother.

Mike was a member of the Washoe Tribe and a descendent of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and Winnebago Tribe. He remained close to the Prairie Band Potawatomi Reservation, where most of his family resides.

 He and Christina Thomas were married in Riverside, CA, then later divorced.

 Mike is leaving behind, his mother, Cornelia Donahue of Hiawatha, KS; his only son, Michael Jim, Jr. of Lawrence, KS; 2 sisters, Cecily Wabaunsee of Mayetta, KS and Mary Tiscareno of Topeka, KS; 5 brothers, Paulino “Sonny” Jim, Jr. of Arizona, William “Bill” Jim of Mayetta, KS, Tom Jim of Mayetta, KS, Philip Jim of Mayetta, KS and Ron Jim of Kansas City, MO. He is also leaving behind nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and many friends, cousins and those who were lucky enough to have met him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paulino Jim, Sr.

 Dinner and Wake Service will be Thursday evening, November 29, 2018 at Nozhackum Hall, 8362 158th Rd., Mayetta, KS.  Private family burial will be at a later date in Danceground Cemetery.
