Kathryn Kramer Peterson
Valley Falls , KS

Kathryn Kramer Peterson, 90, Valley Falls, died Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Phoenix, AZ. She was born on Jan. 13, 1922, the daughter of William and Emily Duby Crable, outside Osage City, KS. Due to the death of Emily, Kathryn went to live with John W. and Emma Russell Cooling at the age of five, outside of Valley Falls. The Coolings legally adopted Kathryn when she was 39 years old. She married Joseph A. Miller of Holton, KS, in 1942. Kathryn and Joe had three children: Beverly J. Miller of Valley Falls, KS, Emma Beth Miller Fazende of Phoenix, AZ, and Larry D. Miller of Linn Creek, MO. She later married Robert Kramer of Easton, KS. They had two sons: James F. Kramer of Milton-Freewater, OR, and Robert J. Kramer of Rock Creek, KS. Kathryn was preceded in death by twelve of her siblings, two grandchildren, and husband Robert Kramer. She has two surviving sisters, Pauline O’roke of Topeka, KS, and Lorene Finch of Ottawa, KS. Kathryn has 16 surviving grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Kathryn married Louis Peterson of Holton, KS in 1981, and became stepmother to the seven children that he and the late Louise Peterson had. Kathryn was preceded in death by one step grandchild and has 12 surviving step grandchildren; 18 step great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren from this union. At the age of 60, Kathryn graduated from nursing school as an LPN and started a new career in both Jefferson and Jackson Counties. She leaves behind a great number of persons who have loved her dearly. She has touched countless numbers of those whose lives have been blessed by her kindness, compassion, and selfless generosity. She will be missed by many. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial will follow at the Valley Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Jefferson County Friends of Hospice or to Valley Falls Food Pantry c/o Mercer Funeral Home, PO Box 6, Valley Falls, KS 66088.
