Naomi Grace Pope, age 94, of Table Rock, NE passed quietly and peacefully away January 3, 2019 at Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt, NE. Naomi was born May 9, 1924 to Walter LeRoy and Winnifred Margarite (Pelham) Crook near Filley, NE.

The family lived near Filley, and moved to western Nebraska in the mid 1920’s for 4 years and then moved back to Filley.  She attended district 43 country school near Crab Orchard and graduated from Lewiston High school in 1941. She then attended Normal Training at the University of Nebraska after which she taught school for 12 years in a country school near Crab Orchard, Rockford and Elk Creek. She was married to Robert Pope of Tecumseh on May 20, 1945 in Filley, NE.  They lived in Beatrice, Elk Creek and Table Rock. She sold Avon, was a nurse  aide in the Humboldt Hospital and a home health aide for Tabitha Home Health in York. 

Her hobbies were gardening, crocheting, cooking, baking and being with people. Many called her grandma as she enjoyed all (the friends) who came to her home especially with  her children and grandchildren. She loved to teach and taught many a game or two, how to count, say the alphabet or how to tie a shoe lace.   She belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star, the Rebekah Lodge and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a 4-H leader and a member of an extension club.  She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Table Rock, NE and received her 75 year pin in 2018. She belonged to the United Methodist Women and enjoyed giving lessons and programs in her social groups.

She entered the Colonial Acres Nursing home in 2016 and kept busy with all the activities.  

She is survived by her 4 children, Marcia (Madison) Hoover of York, Cynthia (Robert) Zehr of Fischer, Il, David (Susan Klein) Pope of Table Rock and Kimberly (Joseph) Sharpe of Table Rock; 8 grandchildren , Jennifer Pope (Erik Lofts), Joshua Hoover of Marion, Il,  Seth (Lynsay Kircher) Hoover of Manifee , CA,  Abigail (Sam) Mwania of Lincoln,  Levi Zehr (Katie) of Mohomat, Il, Kelsee Sharpe of Columbus, Tanner Sharpe (Jamie Thorson) of Pawnee City and  Mollee Sharpe of Lincoln; 6 great grandchildren, Izayah Morris and Emma Egger of Geneva; Kylie and Kaitlyn Synovec of Lincoln; Faith Mwania of Lincoln;  Kyndall  Zehr and Kazie Rittenhouse of  Mohomet,Il, sister, Shirley Wilkinson of Waverly;  brother in-law and sister in-law, Eugene and Carol Pope of Tecumseh and a host of nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Vernon Crook and a grandson, Drew Allen Pope.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Table Rock, Nebraska.

Visitation will be at the Table Rock United Methodist Church from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 with family in attendance from 6-8 pm.

Interment will be in the Table Rock Cemetery, Table Rock, Nebraska.

Memorials contributions may be given to the family’s choice with a later designation.
