Gordon Wilbur Weyer, 90, of Centralia, KS passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 at the Sabetha Community Hospital.

Gordon was born January 4, 1929 on a farm northwest of Centralia to Willie and Edith (Westberg) Weyer. He attended Center Country School and graduated from Centralia High School in 1947.

Gordon married Verda Faye Most on December 31, 1950 at the Centralia Congregational Church. They celebrated 68 years of marriage on December 31, 2018.

In addition to being a full time farmer, he officiated basketball and football from 1953-1980, and drove a school bus at Centralia for 40 years. Gordon was inducted into the KSHSAA Hall of Fame in 1977 for officiating. He was a member of the Centralia School Board of Education when the present gymnasium was built in Centralia School. Gordon was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, now the Centralia Community Church, and also a member of the Masonic Lodge since 1954.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Lawrence.

He is survived by his wife, Faye of the home; two daughters, Diana (Jerry) Wickersham of Olathe, KS, and Myra (Alan) Cole of Cunningham, KS; two sons, Eric (Cathy) Weyer of Centralia, KS, and Leif (Casey) Weyer of Centralia, KS; nine grandchildren, William (Ellinor) Wickersham, John (Carol) Wickersham, Cody (Amanda) Cole, Addie (Brandon) Ehling, Lydia (Mark) Vierthaler, Emily and Colton Weyer, and Alijah and Allie Collins; nine great grandchildren, Alfred, Melvin and Sammy Wickersham, Brycen, Braylon and Bragg Cole, and Baylor, Nayvee, and Lawtyn Ehling; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Centralia Community Church – East in Centralia. Visitation is Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Popkess Memorial Chapel in Seneca. Interment will be made in the Centralia Cemetery.
