Betty Jean Foley
Atchison, KS

Betty Jean Foley, 88, of Atchison, KS. died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at the Atchison Senior Village.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, June 30th, 2012 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Cindy Meyer, Pastor of the United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Atchison, KS.  The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 PM on Friday, June 29th, 2012 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Atchison Hospital Auxiliary, the United Methodist Church or charity of the donor’s choice and may be left in care of the funeral home.  Condolences to the family may be left online at

Betty Jean Wilkins was born on March 3, 1924 in Atchison, KS the daughter of Robert M. and Anna M. (Hunter) Wilkins. She graduated from Atchison High School in 1942 and worked as a secretary of the Wilson & Co, then at the former Ramsey Department Store and last at the Clothes Vault in Atchison. Betty was a member of the Atchison United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Atchison Hospital Auxiliary, was a Golden Girl - 50 year plus member of the PEO, Chapter ST, a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 215, and enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, reading, working, decorating and especially her friends and family.

She was married to William J.”Bill” Foley on Feb. 16, 1947 at the United Methodist Church.  Bill preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 2007.  Survivors include two sons; William J. (Cindy) Foley, II, Salina, KS., and Robert L. (Debbie) Foley, Bonner Springs, KS., four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Her parents, husband , brother; Robert Wilkins, and sister; Lorene Meeter, preceded her in death.
