 Louis D. Sedlacek, 89, of Seneca, died January 30, 2019 at Nemaha Valley Community Hospital, Seneca, KS.

 He was born July 25, 1929 to John and Rose Mary (Fruh) Sedlacek in Hanover, KS. He was the 7th child of 8. He grew up on the family farm south of Bremen. He went to a country school 2 miles from home, a couple of years at St. Johns grade school, and graduated from Hanover High School in 1947.

He was a member of the Army National Guard unit in Marysville from 1951 to 1974, rising to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3 by the time he retired. In 1969, the entire Marysville unit was deployed to Vietnam, first in Phu Bai then in Dong Ha near the DMZ.

He farmed most of his life, taking over the family farm when he married his wife Bernadine of 48 years in 1963. He was a member of the NFO for many years. He also served on the board of Hanover Oil Company for 2 terms, the Herkimer Coop Elevator board for 2 terms, and the Little Blue township for a couple of terms.

Louis retired from farming in 2001 and moved to Seneca with his wife. During that time, he served on the Seneca Free Library board for 2 terms. He also volunteered at the Mission Center most days of the week for nearly 18 years. And he enjoyed occasional trips to the area casinos.

He enjoyed his wood-working projects, restoring end tables, making new ones, and converting card tables into wooden works of art.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church and a member of St. Joseph Society.

Louis was preceded in death by his wife, a stepson Brian, a brother Alvin, a sister Mildred, and his parents. He is survived by his stepson Anthony of Seneca, a brother Melvin of Marysville, KS, sisters Shirley Koehler of Hanover, KS, Josephine Brown-Peeples of Dallas, TX, Loretta Henshaw of Olathe, KS, and Delores Clark of Spokane, WA, and many nieces and nephews.

 A rosary will be on Sunday, February 3, 2019, at 2 P.M. at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be on at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 4, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery in Hanover.
