Elliott Brunton

Elliott Lex Brunton, 87, of Grantville and formerly of Perry, died Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Midland Hospice Care in Topeka.

He was born March 1, 1932, in the old Brunton home built by his great grandfather, the son of Mason Edward and Mesa “Louise” Elliott Brunton. He attended Perry schools and graduated Perry High School in 1949. Elliott worked for Santa Fe Railway General Offices in Topeka for 3 years, then served in the U.S. Army Adjutant General Corps during the Korean War. After military service, he leased a new Standard Oil Company service station in Perry and operated it for 17 years. He sold auto parts in Topeka for several years then worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Clinton Lake from 1981 to 1992. Elliott was a lifelong member of the Perry United Methodist Church, a member and past Commander of American Legion Post #142, a 32nd degree mason and past master of Perry Lodge.

He married Mildred “Anne” Frisbie on April 6, 1951 at Grantville, she preceded him in death on January 25, 2019.

He is survived by three sons, Mark (Patty) Brunton, Perry, Matt Brunton, Belgrade, MT, Eric (Gina) Brunton, Eudora, one daughter, Ellen (Scott) McPherson, Grantville, one brother, Leon (Nancy) Brunton, Ozawkie, two sisters, Joann Louise Hood, Erlanger, KY, Judith “Judy” (Tom) Hotchkiss, Perry, 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, “Anne” of 68 years, a daughter, Jane Heiserman and a brother Mason “Lee” Brunton.

Cremation Care is planned. Memorial Inurnment Services are pending at this time. The family suggest memorials to the Jefferson County Historical Society sent in care of Barnett Family Funeral Home, PO Box 602, Oskaloosa, KS 66066. Please keep the Brunton Family in your thoughts and prayers.
