Gladys Sylvia Laird, 102, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the Maple Heights Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hiawatha, Kansas. 

She was born on July 8, 1916 in Washington County, Kansas the daughter of Alfred and Rosa Stegman Laird. After the death of her mother, Gladys came to Horton to live with her Aunt and Uncle, William and Anna Volberding. She attended Horton Schools and graduated from Horton High School. Gladys worked as a day care provider and worked as a house keeper.

She was a member of the Horton Christian Church and the C.W.F. She is survived by her cousins and friends including Clem and Judy Bartak of Lawrence, Kansas.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at the Horton City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church and may be sent in care of the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas.
