Lois Jean (Hines) Myers, 90, of Lancaster KS passed away at her home on Saturday, April 27, 2019.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the Lancaster United Methodist Church with Rev. Seth Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in the Alderson Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 pm on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison KS.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Lancaster United Methodist Church or the Alderson Cemetery and may be sent in care of the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.beckerdyer.com.

Lois was born on January 1, 1929 in Atchison KS the daughter of L. Frank and Ruth A. (Bunnell) Hines. She graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1946 and attended one year at Emporia State University.  Lois taught school for 3 years at Maple Grove and Hopewell Schools. She worked from 1969-1993 as an elementary para educator for USD # 377 and USD # 409 schools. Lois was a member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women; she was a 70 year charter member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, and a member of the Atchison Area Association of Retire School Personnel (AAARSP).

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, and sewing. She and Melvin enjoyed traveling having traveled to all 50 states. Lois had the gift of being able to teach and being approachable by children.

She was married to Melvin M. Myers on July 30, 1950 at Lancaster United Methodist Church and remained married for 68 years until his death on Feb. 26, 2017.  Her parents, a son Duane Myers, a brother Milton Hines also preceded her in death. 

Survivors include two favorite sons, David (Deborah) Myers, and Kevin (Lisa) Myers, both of Lancaster, KS and two favorite daughters, Nancy Myers (Roger Dreyer) Leavenworth, KS and Lori (Mark) Boos, Lancaster, KS, two grandchildren, Hannah (Cory) Eckert and Paige (Lane) Chew and two step grandchildren, Sarah Felton and Raymond Felton.
