Gary L. Edie, 61, of St. Joseph, MO, died unexpectedly at his home, Thursday, June 13, 2019.

Gary was born in St. Joseph, June 15, 1957, one of five children born to Kenneth Archer and Esther Louise Rodecap Edie. He grew up at White Cloud where he attended school, later graduating from Highland High School. A few years after graduating, he started working for Union Pacific Railroad, from 1978 until he retired as a brakeman in 2017, after 39 years of service. He lived in Falls City, Nebraska a few years, before moving to St. Joseph to make his home where he has lived for 20 years.

Gary enjoyed being outside, and would visit the farm near White Cloud as often as he could, sometimes twice a week. That being said, he enjoyed anything to do with old tractors: displays, shows, etc.

He married Mary Kay Dougherty for 8 years before they divorced in 1984.

Survivors include his children: Jason Edie (Sara) of Denison, Iowa , Josie Bomar of Omaha, Nebraska.; siblings: Kenneth Edie of Robinson, Ronnie Edie of White Cloud, Mary Scott of Hiawatha, Kathy Leeper of White Cloud; and three grandchildren: Trenton, Amarya, and Gage.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Brenda Trainer.

Friends may call at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland after 12 noon Monday where the family will meet from 6 until 7 that evening.

Family & Friends will meet at the funeral home by 12:15 p.m. Tuesday to go in procession to Olive Branch Cemetery in White Cloud where graveside services follow at 1 p.m.
