Kathryn “Kay” Werner, 92, of Lincoln, NE passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019 at Journey Hospice House in Lincoln, NE. She was born October 4, 1926 in Dallas, TX, the daughter of George F. and Ethel A. (Achten) Keggin; two pioneer families to the Granada/Bancroft area.

Kay graduated from Ward Belmont College in Nashville, TN, where she was active publications and art groups.

She was a former member of Grand Island Sketch Club, Lincoln-Great Plains Rug Hookers and Questers, Bas Blue Book Club. She also volunteered at the Des Moines Art Center.

Kay married Harold H. Werner on June 6, 1946 in Nashville, TN. He preceded her in death on March 10, 2019. Kay was noted for her creativity and devotion to family and friends.

Survivors include her sons, Thomas Werner of West Des Moines, IA and Douglas Werner (Karen) of Austin, TX; 3 grandchildren, Dr. Brian C. Werner (April), Megan E. Werner-Mann (Steven) and Katelyn S. Werner and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in the Granada Cemetery.
