Jerry Dettmann, 81, of Salem, NE, passed away September 24, 2019 at Salem. He was born July 1, 1938 at Eugene, OR to Cecil and Frieda (Orr) Dettmann.

He married Dee Haushahn on June 7, 1959 at Verdon, NE

Jerry was raised in Richardson County by his Aunt Goldie Harris. He worked various jobs, including picking cotton in Arizona and digging potatoes in Idaho. He came back to Richardson County and worked for Frontier Homes before starting his own business setting the trailer homes over the basements. He later worked for Stalder Cattle Company until his health failed. Jerry loved to hunt, fish, wood work and travel with his family. He built 3 houses, 2 in Verdon and the family home in Salem. He was a member of the Verdon Fire Department.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Dee of Salem, daughters, Jennifer Bahr and her husband Jay of Lincoln, NE, Debbie Rowland and her friend Phil fischer of Falls City, NE, grandchildren, Art Dean and his wife Kelli of Falls City, Allison Rowland of Richmond, MO, Alex Rowland of Lexington, MO, Jessica Swanson and her husband Geoff and Jeremy Bahr and his wife Morgan both of Lincoln, great-grandchildren, Jessi and Emma Lew Dean, Rylie Bahr, brothers, Cecil of Phoenix, Kenneth of Springville, UT, Norman Johnson and his wife Dot of Los Angeles, CA, sisters, Patricia Covington of Placerville, CA and Zelma Smith and her husband Carl of Rolla, MO. She was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harold and Leo, sisters, Donna Cornilius and Maxine Wright.

His funeral will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Shafer officiating. Interment will be in Verdon Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
