William " Bill" Negonsott

William "Bill" Allen Negonsott, 70, of the Kickapoo Reservation, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2019 at his home.  He was born on May 5, 1949 in Horton, Kansas the son of Milton Leslie and Evelyn Wahwassuck Negonsott.

Bill graduated from Powhattan High School in 1967. After high school Bill worked for Rockwell International, Indian Action Team, Kickapoo road maintenance as a heavy equipment operator and the Kickapoo Farm and Ranch before retiring. He volunteered his time mowing the Veteran's Park, surrounding cemeteries and the dance grounds. Bill enjoyed playing scat with is Senior Crew, shooting the breeze with Jim, playing slots, hunting, night fishing, telling stories of his basketball days at Powhattan, playing his guitar, collecting antique lures and most importantly he loved spoiling his pride and joy, Wapa and Teags.

Survivors include two sisters, Janet Negonsott (Phil Zephier) of Horton, Kansas and Tammy Wahwassuck (Skup Allen) of Horton, Kansas; aunt, Ramona Wahwassuck of Horton, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Emery and John Negonsott, four sisters, Mary Ann Blacksmith, Mabel "Osh" Dupuis, Norene Negonsott and Patricia Negonsott.

Drum services will be at 7:30 P.M. on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at the Kickapoo Community Building. Burial will be on Friday morning before sunrise at the Negonsott Cemetery on the Kickapoo Reservation. A special message may be sent to the family at www.dishon-maple-chaney.com
