Roy Farwell

Roy Neal Farwell, 82 of DuBois, was born in Pawnee City, Nebraska on August 22, 1937, the 10th of 10 children born to Albert Clyde (Bert) and Laura Velma (Pelton) Farwell.  He attended school in DuBois until 11th grade and then graduated from Bern high school in 1955.

On January 31, 1962, Roy was united in marriage to Kay (Parli) Farwell at the United Methodist Church in Pawnee City, Nebraska. To this union,  three children, Scott, Lori, and Michael were born.  They lived on the family farm their entire married life, the same farm where he grew up.  Roy farmed and was int he National Guard from 1960 to 1966.  Roy’s hobbies included traveling, fishing, being outside, watching western movies, ad spending time with family.  Roy could always be found at his grandchildren’s events.  In his retired years he also enjoyed spending time at Klepper’s and eating at the local eating establishments.  He will be remembered for his infectious laugh, warm smile and generous heart.  He passed away on October 3rd at Bryan West Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Horace (Leola) Farwell, sisters: Lavinna (Fred) Thiemann, Margaret (Leon) Korber, Laura (Lawrence) Meier, Jennie (Lyle) Boehmer, Alberta (Howard) Koester, Ida (John) Kanel, grandson Brent Neal Gyhra and great grandson, Sebastian Michael Jerrick. 

Roy is survived by his wife Kay (Parli) Farwell, children Scott (Carol) Farwell of DuBois, Michael (Heather) Farwell of DuBois, and Lori (Dennis) Gyhra of Pawnee City. Grandchildren Kyla (RJ) Jerrick of Oman, Aubrey (Zac) Hinrichsen of Lincoln, and Macey Gyhra of Omaha, Alex and Jett Farwell of  Du Bois, great grandchildren, Porter and Louis Jerrick of Omaha. Brothers Dean (Loree) Farwell of Seneca, KS, Richard (Doris) Farwell of Du Bois, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Pawnee City, Nebraska with Pastor Hyunsook Kim and Reverend Ken Tubbesing officiating.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2019, with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, Nebraska. Interment will be at the Pawnee City Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church, Pawnee City, or to the Pawnee City High School Speech and One Act Department.
