Charles Lee “Chuck” Brey

Charles Lee “Chuck” Brey, 95, of Oskaloosa, died Thursday, February 20, 2020 at F.W. Huston Medical Center in Winchester.  He was born January 29, 1925 at McLouth, the son of Jacob “Jake and Zelma Ruth Lowe Brey. He was a 1943 graduate of Ozawkie High School. “Chuck” was a farmer and stockman in the Oskaloosa and Ozawkie area for more than 60 years. He also served as a substitute rural mail carrier for 30 years. He formerly worked for Santa Fe Railroad in Topeka before farming full time. He was a member of Ozawkie United Methodist Church and a long time member of Larner-Segraves American Legion Post #36 in Oskaloosa. He was married to Ruth Ann Edwards on May 2, 1964 at Meriden, she survives at home. He is also survived by one daughter, Lisa Smith, Topeka, one son, Steve (Kim) Brey, Meriden, three brothers, Alfred Brey, Sabetha, Dale Brey, Topeka, Eldon Brey, Topeka, three grandchildren, Kyle (Stephanie) Hackett, Kelsey (Brett) Wagner, Dalton Imhoff-Brey and a great-granddaughter, Huxley Wagner. He was preceded in death by three sisters, his twin, Ceona Michaelson, Loreta Zwygart and Belva M. Fox.   
 Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, February 24, 2020 at Barnett Family Funeral Home, Oskaloosa. Burial with American Legion Honors will be at Ozawkie Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Sunday at the Funeral home.  Memorials suggested to F.W. Huston Senior Living or F.W.
