Floyd “Pappy” Lenard

Floyd “Pappy” Lenard, 71, of Falls City, NE, passed away March 13, 2020 at Falls City. He was born September 19, 1948 at Downsville, LA to Daniel and Gladys (Jordan) Lenard. 

He married Linda Susan Whitten on April 3, 1972 at Rulo, NE.

Floyd was drafted into the U. S. Army on May 7, 1969 at Shreveport, LA. He served with Company B 1st Battalion, 52nd Infantry LIB American Davison. He earned a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal and Combat Infantry Medal. He was honorably discharged on May 6, 1971 at Ft. Polk, LA.

Floyd was raised in Downsville and graduated Downsville High School in 1966 and was a member of FFA. Following his service he returned to Downsville and worked at Western Union. He worked decommissioning the telegraph system working in the south and Midwest, where he met Linda. After marriage the couple traveled due to his work and returned to Falls City in 1973 and he was employed by Rolfes/Alanco for 30 years, retiring in 2004. He also helped area farmers his entire life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, NASCAR and the New York Yankees. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church, American Legion, Vietnam Veterans Association and Disabled American Veterans.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Linda of Falls City, daughter, Rebecca Cromer and her husband Nick of Falls City, son, Jason, brother, Leon and his wife Evelyn of Downsville, sister, Priscilla Nugent of Fallon, NV, sisters-in-law: Barbara Lenard, Mary Anne Lenard, grandchildren, Brady and Tanner Cromer, Azlynia, Sloan and Vaughn Lenard and a great-grandchild, Declan Albin. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bob Allen, Cloyd and Little Dan Lenard in infancy, sister, Sissy Spillers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Lawrence Stoley as the presiding priest. Interment will be in Falls City Catholic Cemetery. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.

A Parish Rosary will be recited on Monday at 7:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with family greeting friends afterwards.
