Sammie Joe Blanton, 73, of Horton, Kansas, passed away at his home, on Monday, June 8, 2020. He was born on July 3, 1946 in Purcell, Kansas the son of Jessie and Lenora Simpson Blanton.

Sam worked as a custodian for the Horton School system for many years before retiring.  On November 9, 1971 he married Mary LaLond in Otsego, Michigan.

Survivors include three sons, Bill Long of Cameron, Missouri, Chris Long of Horton, Kansas and Louis Blanton of Horton, Kansas; daughter, Pebble Hare of Horton, Kansas; sister, Tammy Stephens of Ottawa, Kansas; six, brothers, Wendell Blanton of Tulsa, Oklahoma, William Blanton of Richmond, Kansas, Howard Blanton of Bartlett, Nebraska, Jack Blanton of Hamlin, Kansas, Frank Blanton of Hiawatha, Kansas and George Blanton of Fairview, Kansas; seventeen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Blanton, daughter, Mary Haverkamp, son, Sammie Blanton, sister, Shirley Richey and a granddaughter, Ashley Moppins.
