Melvin D. Shupe, 77, of Circleville, KS, passed away Friday, June 12, 2020 at Midland Hospice Care in Topeka. He was born January 23, 1943 at the home of Dr. Forest Kendall in Holton, KS, the son of Oscar Curtis and Lela Frances (Myers) Shupe.

Melvin graduated from Circleville High School in 1961. He worked for 45 years for Martin Marietta Materials, Inc. as a clerk, core driller and surveyor. Melvin was a member of the Circleville Christian Church.

Melvin married Kathren S. Simmons on September 6, 1969 in Circleville. They later divorced in October 1997.

Survivors include his 3 children, Candy Sue Mann (Jim) of Montana, Carmella Kay Campbell (Kevin) of Onaga, KS and Curtis Duane Shupe (AJ) of Lenexa, KS; 2 sisters-in-law, Shirley Shupe and Phyllis Shupe both of Circleville, KS; 7 grandchildren, Gena Sullivan, Frank Balazs, Kipp Shupe (Cassey), D.J. Wheeler (Trevah Moeller), Walker Wheeler, Micheala Shupe and Mackenzie Shupe and 6 great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Jaxson and Nathan Sullivan, Neveah and Donella Wheeler and McKinley Wheeler.

He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Marvin Shupe in 1935, Claude Shupe in 2009 and Lester Shupe in 2018.

 Cremation has taken place, per Melvin’s wishes. Private Family Inurnment will be at a later date.
