Wherry Mortuary in Pawnee City
rural Pawnee City, NE

Luree Mildred (Hinrichsen) Ullman of rural Pawnee City passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at the Pawnee County Memorial Hospital at the age of 91.

She was born on February 20, 1929 to John and Mildred (Reis) Hinrichsen at their home in Richfield, Nebraska.  She was fourth of five brothers and one sister.  She married James Ullman on November 15,1947.  He was the love of her life and they celebrated 70 wonderful years of marriage just before his passing in December 2017.  They lived  in Omaha where their son Jim and daughter Mary were born.  In 1952, they moved to a farm south of Pawnee City.  There, Luree enjoyed life on the farm dearly and working alongside her husband.  She could do almost everything to keep the farm going, including driving grain trucks during harvest and tractors during planting and haying, plus she always made sure there was a full meal provided for the family or anyone that would stop by.   The family traveled to the mountains frequently, fished in Minnesota and occasionally visited Ozarks.  She was able to pack the camper on moments notice for many weekend camping and boating trips to places like Tuttle Creek, Medicine Creek, Harlan and the local Burchard Lake.

Favorite past times for Luree were playing cards, sewing and crocheting, making many doilies during her lifetime.  Later years, her and Jim enjoyed frequent visits to the local casinos where she was quite proud of her winnings.  She also loved to bake and was sure to have treats available whenever you stopped by home.

Luree loved her family wholeheartedly  and never hesitated to keep all the young grandchildren for any length time, which grandkids always looked forward to.  Later in life, the great-grandchildren brought her much enjoyment and smiles.

She was a life long member of the DuBois American Legion Auxiliary.

Luree was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Jim, brother Melvin and wife Wanda, Lester, Jack, Ivan and Douglas.

She is survived by son Jim Ullman of Pawnee City, daughter Mary (Ed) Ruegge of Pawnee City, grandchildren Thomas Ullman of Pawnee City, Bryan (Betty) Ruegge of Pawnee City, Scott (Gina) Ullman of San Antonia, TX, Gary Ruegge of Pawnee City, Cyndee (Kevin) Coudeyras of Burchard, and Jamie Ullman of Lincoln.  Great grandchildren Elijah and Violet Ruegge, Ethan and Eva Ullman, Corey Sanders, and Summer and Devon Ullman, sister Betty (Dave) Flanagan, sisters-in-law Shrie, Charleen and Luella, and nephews and nieces, which many called her Aunt Ree, and Luree’s many  friends.
