Delphine Lavina “Kesh ko quah” Knoxsah, 81, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. 

She was born June 1, 1939 in Manhattan, KS the daughter of Frank and Martha (McKinney) Lewis.  Delphine graduated from Manhattan High School and later lived in Topeka for many years.  She worked at the VA Hospital at the Docking Building in data entry and had also worked as a cook at many establishments in Topeka.  Delphine proudly served in the United States Army. She was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and was a member of the Native American Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Ethel Figgins and Martha Serl both of Topeka, KS; her sons Jeff Lewis and Henry Knoxsah both of Topeka, KS; her sister, Gale Atkins of Horton, KS; her brothers, Jeff Lewis of Virginia, Roger Lewis, Lyman Shipshee and Kevin Aitkens all of Mayetta, KS; her 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her four brothers, Joe Lewis, Melvin Lewis, Frank Lewis and Gerald “Jerry” Lewis.

Ttibekwe will be Saturday evening, September 12, 2020 at the Native American Church west of Mayetta.  Burial will be in Shipshee Cemetery Sunday morning. Mercer Funeral Home in Holton is in charge of arrangements. To leave a special message for the family, please visit www.mercerfuneralhomes.com.
