Robert Lee Lohman

Robert Lee Lohman, 90, of Sabetha, Kansas died Sunday, December 6, 2020 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.

Robert was born on January 28, 1930 to William (Bill) and Mary (Brunner) Lohman. He grew up on a farm near Bern, Kansas. Robert graduated from Sabetha High School in 1947. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for two years during the Korean War. He married Rosalie Aberle on December 4, 1955.

Robert’s business ventures and interests were many including working for the Sabetha Herald for 20 years, starting up his greenhouse and flower business, Lohman’s Flowers in the backyard at their home on 220 Grant Street. He enjoyed collecting unusual plants. He also owned and operated laundromats in Sabetha, Seneca, and Hiawatha. Another venture was working for Brey Motors as a car salesman and his children remember him bringing home cars with stick shifts to teach them how to drive. He was always trading cars. Robert will fondly be remembered by always saying “he’d rather work then not”.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosalie on November 24, 2020; and his son-in-law, Richard Bluhm. 

Robert is survived by his son, Brian Lohman of Sabetha, KS; his two daughters, Gina Bluhm of Kansas City, MO and Tamra (Dennis) Studer of Sabetha, KS; his four grandchildren, Brantly (Sarah) Lohman, Elaina Lohman, Dayne Lohman, and Ali Bluhm; his two great grandchildren, Arya Lohman and Leah Lohman; and family friend, Kimberly Sue Hartter and his beloved pomeranian, Tazzy.

Robert will lie in state at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

A Private Family Graveside Service will be held Thursday, December 10, 2020 at the Sabetha Cemetery.
