Daryl L. Pinick, 93, of Havensville, died Friday, December 11, 2020 at his home.

He was born Septmber 3, 1927 at Wheaton, the son of George and Anise Taylor Pinick. Daryl graduated from Havensville Rural High School in 1947.  He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1950 and served nine months in Korea and nine months in Japan.

He had worked for the Michigan-Wisconsin, later ANR Pipeline, at Havensville for thirty-seven years.

Daryl was a member of the Havensville Christian Church and was a former board member and Trustee of the church.  He was a member of the Havensville American Legion and V.F.W. until they closed, and was later a member of both organizations at Onaga.  He was a member of the aging committee at the Onaga Senior Center, had served on the Havensville City Council, and was a board member and sexton of the Havensville Cemetery for many years.  He was also instrumental in establishing the Veteran’s Memorial at the Courthouse in Westmoreland.

He married Donna L. Pinick on August 4, 1956 at the Methodist parsonage in Havensville.  She preceded him in death on January 23, 2014.

Daryl was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Delbert Pinick and Jerry Pinick.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis Pinick (Loretta) and Donald Pinick, all of Havensville; a daughter, Darlene Niehues (John), Havensville; four grandchildren, Ryan Pinick (Stefanie), Lisa Badger (Brett), John Matthew Niehues (Chricket) and Chris Niehues, and three great grandchildren, Noah, Charlee and Nolan.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 15th at the Havensville Christian Church.  Burial with military honors will follow in the Havensville Cemetery.  Please wear a mask at the services.  Daryl will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Monday at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga.  Memorials are suggested to the Havensville Christian Church or the Onaga Senior Center, and may be sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 312, Onaga, KS  66521.  On-line condolences may be made at chapeloaksfuneralhome.com
