Michael Charles Dassel-Stuke, 69, of Seneca, Kansas entered heaven, after battling lung cancer, on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Advent Health Hospital of Shawnee Mission.

Michael was born on November 20, 1951, to Leonard “Bud” and Cecila “Cedar” Marie Lehn Stuke. Michael attended Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School, graduating with the class of 1969.  He attended Highland Community college, achieving his Associate’s Degree, then transferring to Kansas State University in Manhattan. Michael helped on the family farm during his teenage years. After graduating, he purchased a rock truck and went to work for Bennett Trucking in Seneca until 1984. He was a testing supervisor for Landoll for a year, before being employed for 26 years at NRCS (Natural Recourse Conservation Services), before retiring. Michael and his son, Travis, farmed up until his death, something he truly loved, even as his illness progressed, he continued to farm, still driving the combine last fall.

Michael married Donna Dassel on July 7, 1985, at Chandler, Indiana. One son, James, was born to this union. The couple celebrated over 35 ½ years of marriage.

Michael enjoyed farming, music, coyote hunting, all sports especially football and NASCAR races. He was a member of the Kelly Coyote Hunters.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Stuke; his father-in-law, Forrest Dassel; his mother-in-law, Doris Dassel Vowels; sister-in-law, Eileen Dassel Timm; and a nephew, Michael Kieszkowski.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; his mother, Cedar Stuke of Seneca; two sons, Travis (BranDee) Stuke of Seneca and James (Amanda) Stuke of Agency, Missouri; a brother, Steve (Candy) Stuke of Sabetha; a brother-in-law, Gary (Annette) Dassel of Oakland, Oregon; six grandchildren; a granddaughter on the way; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitations, with family present, will be held on Monday, February 1, 2021 from 1-3PM and from 6-8 PM at the Lauer Funeral Home.  Funeral Services for Mike will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday afternoon, February 2, 2021 at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Seneca.  

Mask are encouraged at these services.

Memorials may be left in Mike’s memory for Lung Cancer Research, sent in care of the family.
