Donald A. “Wingnut” Wing, Sr., 63, of Holton, passed away Monday, February 1, 2021 at home, surrounded by his family. He was born June 29, 1957 in Denver, CO, the son of Andrew L. and Anita (Schofield) Wing.

Donald worked in the oil fields in Hays, KS in his earlier years. He worked at Golden Eagle Casino from 1996 - 2000, The Alamo Group in Holton from 2000 – 2005 and also MGP in Onaga. He later retired from Hammersmith Manufacturing in Horton.  He was a member of Christ Church in Holton.

Donald married Phyllis I. Mapes, they later divorced. He married Nikki D. Shafer, on October 15, 1992 in Holton.  She survives of the home.

Other survivors include: his daughter, Heather M. Holt (Robert, Jr.) of Mayetta, KS; his son, Donald A. Wing, Jr. of Holton; 2 sisters, Sandra Frost (Frank) and Patty Littrel (Andy) both of Hays, KS; 3 brothers, Fred Wing of Topeka, James Steinback (Linda) of Oklahoma, and Joseph Wing of Missouri; 4 grandchildren, Meaghan Koon (Andrew Harrison), Reaghan Koon, Courtnee Wing and Colbee Wing; 3 step-grandchildren, Montgomery Holt and Madison and Maisie Luck; great-grandson, Hunter Harrison; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Wing and Anita Mewhinney and step-father, Edward Mewhinney.

Memorial Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., February 4, 2021 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.  Private inurnment will be held at a later date.  Memorials are suggested to The Donald Wing Memorial Fund, to be designated later, c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
