Lynn Marie Niehues, 65, of Corning died on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, surrounded by her family, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City.

She was born July 24, 1956 in Ottawa, Illinois to John and Elizabeth Singer Geiger. She graduated from Marquette Academy High School, in Ottawa. Lynn attended Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri, where she gained her bachelors in psychology and sociology. She then further her education at Central Missouri State in Warrensburg, Missouri, gaining her masters in social gerontology. After graduation, Lynn relocated to Manhattan Kansas where she welcomed her two loving children. A job opportunity brought her to Nemaha County, where she met and married Roy G. Niehues of Corning.

On July 28, 2001, Lynn married Roy Niehues at St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly. Lynn was employed as a case manager for Big Lakes, and as a social worker, NCTC.  She enjoyed helping with the less fortunate and disabled, she was semi-retired, but still was working at the time of her death.

Her interest were horses, the Green Bay Packers, baking, taking care of all animals, family events, antiques and especially her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly, St. Ann’s Altar Society and was on the Northeast Kansas Area on Agency Board of Directors. Lynn was a foreign exchange participant and a foster parent.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a grandson, Carson.

She is survived by her husband, Roy; a daughter, Lauren (Abel) Linares of Hiawatha; a son, Taylor (Whitney) Niehues of Centralia; two brothers, Mark Geiger of Chicago, Illinois and Bill Geiger of Riverton, Illinois; and three grandchildren, Sawyer, Kemper and Bowen.

Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM on Friday, October 7, 2021, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 AM Saturday, October 8, 2021, at St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly. Burial will be in the St. Bede’s Cemetery in Kelly.
Memorial are to be designated at a later date sent in care of the family.
