Rolland “Bill” Goins, 90, of Horton, Kansas passed away peacefully on Monday, October 4th, 2021 at his home in Oro Valley, Arizona.

He will be truly missed by family and friends in so many ways. Bill was born on April 16, 1931 in St. Joseph, Missouri the son of Lloyd and Leila Goins. He was raised in Horton and graduated from Horton High School in 1949. He was very active in athletics (basketball, football, golf, bowling and nearly anything else he attempted) both in school and his adult life. Bill loved sports and he attributed many of the qualities that served him so well in life to coaches and lessons learned while participating in athletic activities. Bill attended the Chillicothe Business College for one year but was subsequently drafted and he joined the United States Air Force. He served a four year tour of duty in Germany and left the service as a Staff Sergeant. He retired from the Kansas Power and Light / Gas Service Company, where he was Division Manager, in 1992 after 34 years of service.

Throughout his life Bill gave his time, talent and resources to the community and church he loved and was devoted to. He was a President of the Horton Health Foundation, President of the Kiwanis Club, President of the USD 430 Board of Education, was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (Horton Post) and a member of the American Legion. He was also very active in the United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and as a soloist for many years.

Bill was preceded in death by Nancy Goins, wife and mother of his children. Bill was also preceded in death by two sons, Rolland Goins Jr., Ron Goins and a brother Lloyd Goins Jr.

Survivors include wife Donna Goins of Oro Valley, Arizona, two sons Todd (Toni) Goins of Baldwin City, Kansas and Bruce (Stacey) Goins of Parkville, Missouri. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Michaela, Abbey, Olivia and Peyton along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services and burial will be held on Monday, October 11th at 11am at the Horton Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall at the United Methodist Church.
