Virginia Arlene (Ginny) Robinson, 71, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2021 at her home. Ginny was born on April 21, 1950, in Larned, KS. She was preceded in death by her Mother Dana (Petersillie) Rees, her stepfather George Rees, her father Calvin Culp, and her brother Lloyd Culp.

Ginny graduated from Perry High School in 1967 and attended Highland Community College and Washburn University earning a degree. She married Ray Robinson in September 1967 and the couple welcomed three children before divorcing.

Surviving family members include daughters Sharon (Doug) Iverson, Susan (Scott) Baum, and son Michael Robinson (Deb), all of Holton. Ginny has 11 grandchildren Steven Iverson, Richard Iverson, Susan Rash, Madison Matzke, Mason Baum, Ashlyn Robinson, Allie Meyer, Spencer Baum, Regan Baum, Rees Robinson, and Piper Robinson + 9 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way.

Ginny made a difference throughout her life by serving her community whether it was as an EMT on a mountain ambulance, as a police dispatcher or working with kids. Ginny believed her spiritual gift and purpose in life was to help children in need. She was a licensed therapeutic foster parent for 36 years and fostered over 200 children. She was mom to many more kids than Sharon, Susan, and Mike.

Her commitment to children was evident through her work at USD 336 in Holton, KS, where she served for 24 years in special and general education. Ginny had a special place in her heart for at risk kids at the high school level. She built the tutor program from the ground up. While her goal was to help students that were struggling academically, she had a tremendous impact on their social and emotional well-being. She spent many hours helping kids inside and outside the school building. She had many study sessions in her kitchen and when kids couldn’t come to her, she went to them, often in their homes.

Memorial Service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 10, 2021 at the Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton. Inurnment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Virginia Robinson Memorial Fund (to benefit at-risk youth) to be designated at a later date c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
