She was born July 15, 1934 in Topeka, Kansas, one of four children of Rev. Alford and Josephine Weldon. She attended elementary school in Topeka and graduated from high school in Sacramento, California.

Faye married Howard “Bud” Stillman on October 16, 1955 and lived in numerous locations during his time with the service such as: Maryland, Alaska, Hawaii, Germany and Korea where they shared many wonderful memories. She was also a very loving and devoted mother of son, Brian Stillman, and still seemed to find time to help care for her nieces and nephews.

Faye enjoyed cooking and baking family favorites including her famous pound cake.  She was always up for an intense game of cards or dominoes. Some of her other hobbies included crosswords, reading, or just having a nice cup of coffee with a neighbor.  Faye had many friends and family that she always looked forward to spending time with, and always cherished special visits from Mac and Lil, Walt and Judy, Carrie and Gill.

On July 4, 2000 she married David Pernell of Lakewood, California where she spent the rest of her retirement years.

She is survived by her husband David Pernell of Lakewood, California; her son Brian Stillman of Germany; Grandchildren Jermaine Stillman, Briana Childress, and Jordan Stillman of Hiawatha, Kansas; Great-Granddaughter Tildyn Faye Childress and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Howard “Bud” Stillman, and a sister Myra “Denie” Tyler.

Funeral services are planned for 3 p.m. Saturday, August 18, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha.  Reverend Regina Stillman, pastor of Memorial Church of God in Christ, will officiate.  Interment will follow at Hiawatha Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 12 noon Friday where the family will meet from 6 until 8 that evening.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Faye Stillman Pernell Memorial Fund which may be sent in care of the funeral home, 124 S 7th St., Hiawatha 66434.
