Arlene Andrews
Rural Everest , KS

Arlene Andrews, 77, of rural Everest, died early Thursday morning August 23, 2012, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, Missouri where she had been a patient a few days.

Arlene was born July 27, 1935 in Horton, one of two children of Charles and Nina Hixson Andrews. She grew up near Everest where she attended country school, later graduated from Everest High School. Arlene worked a number of years for Knouse’s in Horton before moving to Kansas City, Missouri. She worked at various positions with Trans World Airlines (TWA) at Kansas City International Airport, including payroll clerk, before retiring in the mid 1980’s. She returned to live near Everest where she grew up in 1993.

Miss Andrews was a member of the Methodist Church at Everest until it closed, then attended the Christian Church of Everest.

Survivors include her brother John (Toni) Andrews of rural Everest; a niece Julie Andrews, also of Everest; also a great niece and nephew; great-great nieces; and a number of cousins.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; and a nephew Jeff.

Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, August 25, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha, with Pastor Steve Kagin, of the Christian Church, officiating.

Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha.

Friends may call at the funeral home until 7 p.m. Friday. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to services Saturday.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Arlene Andrews Memorial Fund which may be sent in care of the funeral home, 124 S 7th St., Hiawatha 66434.
