Edward Docker
Essex , IA

Edward Joseph “Joe” Docker, age 84, of Essex, Iowa passed away Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.  Edward Joseph “Joe” Docker was born June 26, 1928 Northeast of Red Oak, Iowa the son of John Bernard and Mabel (Olson) Docker.  He grew up in Montgomery County and graduated from Red Oak High School.  He was united in marriage to Jeanette Runyan on May 17, 1953 and two children were born to this union:  David and James.  Joe farmed and held various other jobs before starting to work for the Iowa Department of Transportation.  He retired after many years as a driver‘s license examiner.  Joe was united in marriage to Muriel Morris on February 14, 2002 and they made their home in Essex, Iowa.  He was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Red Oak, Iowa.  Joe enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and working with his Farmall Tractor.  He spent many vacations at antique tractor shows.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his son, James Docker.  Survivors include his wife:  Muriel Docker of Essex, Iowa; son:  David Docker and wife Kim of Red Oak, Iowa; daughter-in-law:  Kelly Docker of Red Oak, Iowa; grandchildren:  Ben Docker and wife Kellijo of Rock Rapids, Iowa; Matthew Docker and wife Kassie of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Andrew Docker of Red Oak, Iowa; Mindy Docker of Red Oak, Iowa; Chris Docker of Omaha, Nebraska; and Dan Docker and wife Kilee of Emerson, Iowa; great grandchildren:  Ellie and Brody Docker of Rock Rapids, Iowa and Colin Docker of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; brothers:  Robert Docker and wife Ruth of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Bernard Docker and wife Delores of Red Oak, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, October 15, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Red Oak with Pastor Fred Pilecki and Pastor Jim Ressegieu officiating.  Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4 PM Sunday, October 14, 2012 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel.  Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.

Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
