2: Remote Broadcast in Holton
at the Grand Opening of Lee's Flowers and Gifts at their new location 106 W 5th on the north side of the square - from 11 am to 2 pm.
3: Everest Library Summer Reading Program
The Everest Public Library will start the summer reading program on Friday, June 1st at 10:00AM at the Library. The next few programs will be held on June 8th and June 15th with the summer ending party on June 22nd at the Horton Public Pool. For more info call 548-7733.
4: Everest Library Reading Room
The Barnes Reading Room in the Everest Public Library will be open for summer hours on Monday’s from 12:00 noon till 6:00PM. On Tuesday’s through Friday’s the reading room will be open from 9:00AM till noon. The reading room is closed on the weekend. For more information call 548-7733.
5: Muscotah clothing giveaway
The Muscotah United Church will hold a clothing give-away at the church located at 302 Kansas Avenue in Muscotah on Friday, June 1st from 4:30 to 8:00PM and on Saturday, June 2nd from 8:00 to 11:00AM. There will be free clothing in a variety of sizes to be given away.
6: Atchison Library Summer Reading Program
The summer reading program kicks off today. Also, children's storytime will take place Monday and Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m. (except on Memorial Day), Twisted Stitchers will be Tuesdays at 6 p.m., and the Mystery Book Club will meet on Thursday, May 31st. 7: Relay for Life Brown County fundraisers
Two fundraisers for Relay for Life Brown County will be held on Friday, June 1st. A bake sale hosted by Citizens State Bank will start at 9:00AM. And, a BBQ lunch hosted by Rainbow Communications in the downtown Hiawatha location will be held from 11AM till 1:00PM. Free will donation.
8: Brown County Relay for Life dinner
The Relay For Life Brown County Survivor Dinner will be held at the Fisher Center in Hiawatha on Friday, June 1st. Registration will begin at 6:00PM with dinner at 6:30PM. The Relay for Life event will be held on Friday, June 8th at the Hiawatha High School Track. For more info call 741-5563.
9: Fairview and Hiawatha concerts
The first ever “In the Plains” chamber music festival concerts will be held this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 7:30 each night. Friday and Sunday’s concert is at the Fairview United church on Christ. Saturday’s concert is at Bethany United Church of Christ in Hiawatha. For info call 467-3197.
10: Ice Cream Social - Falls City
As part of their 145th Anniversary celebration, St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 16th and Harlan in Falls City, is offering the community two summer treats. The first is a "Build your own sundae" Ice Cream social in the Parish Hall from 2-4:30 PM. Beginning at 5 PM there will be a special musical offering known as Evensong. The Public is invited. A free will donation will be accepted for the events.
