3: Unbreakable Spirit Walk for OI Atchison
This fundraiser and awareness event is to generate funds to improve the quality of life for individuals affected by Osteogenesis Imperfecta. It will be May 12th from 11am-2pm on the Riverfront in Atchison. For more info, contact Heidi Johnson at 913-426-1921.
4: Wetmore pancake feed
The Wetmore Lions Club will hold a pancake feed on Saturday, May 12th at the Wetmore American Legion Hall. They will serve pancakes, sausage, eggs and biscuits and gravy from 8:00AM until 1:00PM. That’s the Wetmore Lions Club pancake feed Saturday, May 12th from 8:00 till 1:00.
5: Valley Falls garage sales
The Valley Falls City-wide garage sales will be held on Friday, May 11th and Saturday, May 12th from 7:00AM till 3:00PM all around town. Maps of the locations of garage sales will be available from local businesses. That’s the Valley Falls City garage sales on Friday and Saturday May 11th and 12th.
6: Atchison Rotary Club Poker Run
Poker Run for Kids & Polio Plus, May 12 at Lewis Chevrolet at 314 Woodlawn Ave in Atchison. 9AM Registration, 10AM Depart. 120 mile ride through Effingham, Easton, Valley Falls & Perry Lake. Lunch Special at Grainery Saloon. $20 per rider, $10 per passenger. Call Carrie Sowers at 913-367-6441 for pre-registration or more info.
7: Seneca Relay for Life bake sale
The Relay for Life team “Barb’s Bees” will hold a bake sale in front of the Variety Store on Main in Seneca on Saturday, May 12th from 8:00AM till 12:00 noon. They’ll have lots of baked items including rolls, pies, cookies, cakes and more. All proceeds go to the Relay for Life team.
8: Letter Carriers' Food Drive- Falls City
Letter carriers will hold their annual food drive on Saturday May 12th. Falls City and surrounding area residents are encouraged to participate by placing non-perishable food items in bags, and leaving them by their mailbox before mail delivery on May 12. All food collected will go to local community food banks and pantries. Example of non-perishable items include: canned soup, called meats, canned vegetables, fruits and juices, boxed goods (such as cereal), pasta and rice. Do not donate items that have expired or are in glass containers.
9: Nemaha Letter Carriers food donation day
The 20th annual Nemaha County Letter carriers collection of nonperishable food donations during their rounds will be on Saturday, May 12th. To donate, leave non-perishable food donations by your mailbox on Saturday, May 12th before your mail is delivered. All donations will go to the Nemaha County Food Pantry in Seneca.
10: Muscotah garage sales
The Muscotah Outreach will sponsor the Muscotah city wide garage sales on Saturday, May 12th starting at 7:30AM. A fun new game twist this year is a “roll the dice” game for a prize. Stop by the Mercantile and the Old Feed Store for something to eat. Lots of sale locations, maps will be available.
11: Horton Relay for Life bake sale
The Brown County Relay For Life will hold a bake sale on Saturday, May 12th starting at 9:00AM in front of Jim’s Thriftway in Horton. Proceeds will go to the Relay for Life Team “Coach and the Baseline Betty’s” The relay will be held on June 8th at 6:00PM At the Hiawatha High School Track.
