: Saint Joseph Relay for Life
The American Cancer Society of Saint Joseph will hold their 100% Cancer Relay for Life and auction on Saturday, June 2nd from 12:00PM to 12:00AM at the Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church in Saint Joseph. For more information on how to participate in the event call 816-344-4296.

The Holt County Relay For Life event will take place on the square in Oregon, MO. Get a team together to walk in the Relay For Life or go to Oregon that day to participate in the other events such as live entertainment and booths of food and fun,
: Sabetha Kids fishing derby
The Sabetha Kiwanis Club will hold a free day of fishing and fun for the first annual Kids Fishing Derby on Saturday, June 2nd at the Sabetha Lake. The event is free for all kid’s ages 3 to 16 years old. This is a tournament with many other activities. Registrations are at the schools or call 284-2699.
: Muscotah dog parade
The 6th Annual Muscotah “Paws in the Park” dog parade will be held on Saturday, June 2nd at the Muscotah City park located at 604 Kansas Street. Registration is at 8:30AM and the parade will be held at 10:00AM. Prizes will be given in many categories. For more info call 872-3544.
: Coed Softball in Hiawatha
Summer CO-ED Softball Tournament beginning at 9am on June 2nd at Bruning Park in Hiawatha. All money raised will go to the Brown County Humane Society to help fund a van to transport shelter animals to rescue groups. $120 per team. Half of the team must be female. : Effingham 2K/5K Walk or Run
The 4th Annual 'Hoofin It for the Pool' 2K/5K walk or run will be held Saturday, June 2, 2012, beginning at 8:00am. Registration fee is $20 which includes T-shirt and breakfast. Kids 12 and under may enter the 2K for $10. This includes shirt, breakfast a medal at the finish line. Sign ups will be take up to the day of the run; however, to guarantee shirt size please register by May 20th.
: Bike Blessing - Falls City
Inter-demoninational Blessing of the Bikes will be held at 11 AM to 1 PM at Stanton Lake in Falls City. Have lunch and fellowship. Free will offering for the meal to help a church youth group with their future servant trips. Pastors from a number of area churches will be available for individual conversations and blessings if desired. Bike blessing at 11:30 AM.
: Hiawatha Kiwanis Kids Fun Day
The Hiawatha Kiwanis annual “Kids Fun Day” at the Kiddie Corral will be held on Saturday, June 2nd from 11:00AM till 1:00PM. There will be free hot dogs, chips and a drink, face painting and many other kids games and activities around the park. Parking is next to the Legion ball field.
: Horton: Benefit for Sharon Johnson
A free-will donation breakfast will take place for Sharon Johnson today from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Horton, located at 130 East 10th St. Johnson was the victim of an assault and funds from the benefit will go toward the payment of medical bills and other expenses. Volunteers are needed to donate food or supplies, or help serve and clean up with the event. For more information call 785-741-5286.
: Centralia Dan Wells Poker Run
The 16th Annual Dan Wells Memorial poker run will be held on Saturday, June 2nd rain or shine. Register at Haverkamp Grocery in Centralia from 5:00 to 6:30PM for $5.00 per hand. The proceeds will go to aid Angie Brokamp with medical expanses and other community needs.
: Hiawatha Benefit dinner and auction
A benefit dinner and silent auction for Jody Morey will be held on Saturday, June 2nd at the Fisher Center in Hiawatha. The dinner and auction will be held from 5:00 to 8:00PM and a D.J. will start at 8:00PM. Jody is in need of a double lung transplant and proceeds will go toward her medical expenses.
: Muscotah clothing give-away
The Muscotah United Church will hold a clothing give-away at the church located at 302 Kansas Avenue in Muscotah on Friday, June 1st from 4:30 to 8:00PM and on Saturday, June 2nd from 8:00 to 11:00AM. There will be free clothing in a variety of sizes to be given away.
: Fairview and Hiawatha concerts
The first ever “In the Plains” chamber music festival concerts will be held this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 7:30 each night. Friday and Sunday’s concert is at the Fairview United church on Christ. Saturday’s concert is at Bethany United Church of Christ in Hiawatha. For info call 467-3197.
