1: Joe Carrigan Memorial Golf Tournament
The 16th Annual Joe Carrigan Memorial Golf Tournament will be on Saturday, June 23rd, at the Bellevue Country Club in Atchison. Entry fee is $260 per team and includes two golf carts. Call 913-367-1488 by June 15th to reserve your team. The event will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. and is a 4-person scramble.
2: Rushville: Della Bartels Benefit
A benefit barbecue for Della Bartels will take place today at 3 p.m. at 139 Birch St., Rushville, MO. Della has been diagnosed with lung cancer. Plates are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Any other cash donations are appreciated. For more information conact Dawn at 913-426-2291.
3: Efffingham: Faith In The Park
The event will take place at the Effingham City Park today beginning at 4 with an ice cream social. The fun continues with games, activities, and prizes for the children, and free live music from "Ironic Outcome" and "Neely". Speaker and Pastor Jay Montgomery will deliver the message.
4: Open House for Strength Facility-FC
FCPS will be hosting a community and alumni open house at the newly completed Tiger Strength & Conditioning facility at Jug Brown Stadium from 2-3PM on Saturday, June 23.
5: Fairview Vacation Bible School
A vacation bible school will be held in Fairview on Saturday, June 23rd at the Fairview Community Building. All children ages 3 to 16 years are invited to attend. Lunch and snacks will be provided. Sponsored by the Fairview Delaware Baptist Church and Fairview United Church of Christ.
6: Atchison Elks Annual Scholarship Banquet
The banquet will be this evening at 6:30 at the Atchison Elks Lodge in the lower level. The meal includes pork steak, baked potato, salad and ice cream. It is open to the public, $10 donation per person. The event is sponsored by the Atchison Lady Elks. For more information call 913-367-3457.
7: Hiawatha Jody Atland Morey benefit band
The Band “Baker Road” will hold a benefit performance on Saturday, June 23rd at the Fisher Center in Hiawatha. Doors will open at 7:00PM and the band starts at 8:00. There will be a $10 cover charge and everyone can bring their own refreshments. Proceeds to go to Jody Atland Morey of Hiawatha.
8: Hiawatha and Falls City emergency radio
An Emergency communications exercise will be held by the combined Hiawatha and Falls City Amateur Radio Clubs on Saturday, June 23rd and Sunday, June 24th at the west end of the Hiawatha Wal-Mart parking lot. They will join with about 40,000 amateur radio operators across the county.
9: Hiawatha benefit poker run
A benefit Poker Run and Dinner will be held at the Hiawatha Lake on Saturday, June 23rd. Registration is at 10:30AM. The donation for the first hand is $15 and additional hands are $5 each. Dinner is a free will offering. All proceeds will go to the family of Melissa Kay Samson who passed away.
10: Gravely Mower Signup in Mayetta
at the Mayetta Business Association Backyard BBQ & Motorcycle Show from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm
11: Summerfield BBQ and dance
A BBQ and street dance will be held in Summerfield on Saturday, June 23rd. From 5:00 to 8:00PM there will be a chicken BBQ for $8.00. Games will go on all day. The Street dance will be held from 8:30PM to 12:30AM, music provided by “The Bryton Stoll Band”. Proceeds go to town improvements.
12: St Bede's softball, BBQ and Karoke
Saint Bede’s church in Kelly will hold a Softball tournament, BBQ, beer garden and Karoke on Saturday, June 23rd. The BBQ and beer garden will be held from 5:00 to 9:00PM. And Darin and Randy will perform from 8:00PM till 1:00AM. Proceeds will go to erecting a “Birth-Right” sign.
13: Mayetta Bike Show
The 4th Annual Mayetta Ride-in motorcycle show will be held on Saturday, June 23rd. Bike sign in is from 9:00 to 10:30AM. The fee is only $10. There will be awesome bikes, great food, lots of vendors, t-shirts, and music. There will also be the 6th annual backyard BBQ cook-off. For info call 224-5309.
14: Fun Run/Walk - Humboldt
There will be a 5k/1 mile Fun Run/Walk at 8 AM starting at St. James Lutheran Church and going down quiet Highway 62. Award for male and female winners. And for male and female age division winners. Entry fee is $25. Proceeds go towards the youth going to the ELCA Youth Assembly in New Orleans. Pick up entrance forms from Blecha's General Store in Humboldt, First National Bank of Johnson or call Pastor Eric Spruth-Janssen at 402-877-4425
