1: Hiawatha HS boys basketball camp
The Hiawatha High School Basketball boys “Team Camp” will be held from Monday, May 28 to Friday, June 1st at the Hiawatha High School from 9:00AM till 12:00PM. The Entry fee is $30. To register or for more information call Andrew Eckert at 608-0309.
2: Hiawatha Middle school boys b-ball camp

3: Sabetha Pancake breakfast for Brockoff's
The First Lutheran Church in Sabetha will hold a pancake feed on Monday, May 28th from 8:00AM till 1:00PM in the church basement. The proceeds will benefit the Roger Brockoff Family for medical expenses. Enjoy pancakes on Monday, May 28th at the First Lutheran Church in Sabetha.
4: Military Memorabilia Display - Auburn
The Auburn Chamber of Commerce representatives are seeking military uniforms and memorabilia for a Memorial Day display. Items can be taken to the Auburn Chamber of Commerce office at 1101 J st. Monday through Friday May 21-25 between 10 am - 3 pm or to the Auburn Senior Center the morning of May 28th. The display will be open from 9 am - noon May 28th, at the Senior Center. It is in conjunction with American Legion Post No. 23's salute to veterans at 10 am at Auburn Memorial Legion Park. Anyone wanting to display an item, please call the Chamber at 402-274-3521.
5: Leavenworth Memorial Day Observance
The Leavenworth National Cemetery will conduct its 126th Memorial Day Observance today at 9 a.m. Guest speaker will be Lt. Gen. David G. Perkins, Commander, Combined Arms Center at Ft. Leavenworth. Patriotic music before and after will be provided by Heartland of America Band "Brass in Blue", Offutt AFB, NE. The ceremony will include George Westbrook and "Big Red", the "Riderless Horse"; presentation of wreaths; national salute; selections from Laura Moyers and Paige Padgett; ceremony will end with Taps and a twenty-one gun salute by the 500th Military Police, Ft. Leavenworth.
6: Oneida Pancake Feed
The Oneida High School Alumni Memorial Day pancake feed will be held on Monday, May 28th from 7:00AM till 12:30PM at the Oneida Community Building. The feed will be a free will donation and proceeds will go towards the Claire B. Sparling Memorial Park and Oneida Community Building.
7: Shubert Memorial Day Dinner
The Prairie union Cemetery Association will host a Memorial Day Dinner serving starts at 11 AM at the Prairie Union Church of rural Shubert. Free will offering
8: Johnson County Memorial Day Services
The Johnson American Legion Post #330 Memorial Day Services at the following cemeteries. Brock at 9 am St. Paul’s Hickory Grove at 9:30 am St. John’s at 10 am Martin Luther at 10:30 am Johnson Cemetery at 10:30 am The Johnson Women’s Auxiliary from Post #330 will be serving a luncheon for all veterans and anybody else that assisted with the Memorial Day Services.
9: Bern Pancake Feed Benefit
The Bern FCCLA will host a Pancake Fee Benefit on Memorial Day Monday, May 28 at the Bern Community Building. The feed will be held from 8:00AM till 1:00PM for a free will donation. All proceeds will go to the medical expenses For Ryan Sextro family.
10: Pawnee City Memorial Day Lunch
The Pawnee City United Methodist Church will hold a Memorial Day Lunch fundraiser on Monday, May 28th from 11:00AM till 1:30PM in the church Fellowship Hall in Pawnee City. A pulled pork sandwich, coleslaw, baked beans, dessert, and a drink will be served for a free will suggestion of $8.
11: Circleville Memorial day breakfast
The Circleville Masonic Lodge will hold a Memorial Day breakfast on Monday, May 28th at the lodge in Circleville. A sausage gravy and biscuits breakfast will be served with orange juice and sausage from 7:00 till 10:00AM for a free will donation.
12: Memorial Day Program - Rulo Cemetery
The 25th anniversary of the Jim Prater Memorial Day Program will begin at 9 am with C. Ken Simpson, Air Force veteran and Falls City American Legion Commander as speaker
13: Humboldt Memorial Day Service
The Humboldt Memorial Day Service sponsored by the American Legion and it's Auxiliary will he held at City Park at 10 am
14: Falls City Memorial Day Service
The Steele Cemetery Program will begin at 11 AM with Bill Shock, World War II veteran as speaker.
15: Stella Memorial Day Service
The program at the Stella Cemetery is scheduled for 10:30 am and the Shubert American Legion Rifle Squad will participate. Refreshments will follow.
16: Brown County Memorial Day Service
The Brown County Memorial Day services will be held at the Courthouse Square in Hiawatha at 10:00AM on Monday. The public is welcome to attend the service, the emcee will be retired Colonel William Vonderschmidt. In case of bad weather, the service will be held on the first floor of the Brown County Courthouse. The annual service is planned and presented by the Brown County Veteran’s Honor Guard. The American Legion, Boy Scouts and 4-H will be installing flags. Flags will be installed at the Hiawatha Cemetery at 8:00AM and taken down at 6:00PM. Flags will be installed at Mount Hope Cemetery at 8:30AM and taken down at 5:00PM. Volunteer help is appreciated.
17: Nemaha County Memorial day service
The Nemaha County Memorial Day services will meet at the Seneca legion at 7:00AM, then go to Baileyville West at 7:45, Sacred Heart at 8:00, Saint Mary’s at 8:15, Oneida at 8:45, Saint Bead’s at 9:15, Root at 9:30, Saints Peter and Paul at 10:20,at the city cemetery at 10:30, and Veteran's Memorial at 11:00AM.
18: Sabetha and Woodlawn Memorial Day
Memorial Day Services in Sabetha and Woodlawn will be held on Monday, June 28th. Services will start at the Sabetha Cemetery at 10:00AM and at the Woodlawn Cemetery at 11:15AM. Services are hosted by the Sabetha Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial post and the American Legion Post.
19: Doniphan County Memorial Day Services
Doniphan County Memorial Day Services will begin at the Highland Cemetery at 9:30AM. In Troy the service will take place at 9:00AM at the courthouse lawn. In Wathena, the service will be at 10:00AM at the Wathena auditorium. A covered dish lunch will follow the service at the community center.
20: Doniphan Co Historical Memorial events
A Doniphan County Historical Society dinner will hold a picnic on Monday, May 28th at the Doniphan West High School from 11:30AM till 1:30PM for a free will donation. There will be open houses at Saint Martha’s A.M.E. Church from 11:00AM till 2:00PM. And, at Mike Lamb’s from 1:00 to 4:00.
21: Memorial Day Service - North of FC
The Shubert Legion Post 222 will have a Memorial Day service at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetary (12 miles north of Falls City) at 11:30 am
