Five people were injured in a two-vehicle accident on a Doniphan County road Wednesday afternoon just west of Elwood.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says 45-year-old Amy Cluck of Troy was traveling east on 170th Road and slowed down for potholes in the road when an eastbound pickup driven by 20-year-old Paul Hicks Jr. of St. Joseph struck her sports utility vehicle in the rear.
Cluck and three passengers in her vehicle, 7-year-old Jadyn Kline, 4-year-old Devin Coles, and 4-year-old Ethan Doiel, all of Elwood, were transported to Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.
A passenger in Hick’s truck, 20-year-old Ashley Stevens of Elwood, received possible injuries but wasn’t transported.
Hicks and two other passengers in his vehicle were not hurt. Also a fourth passenger in the Cluck vehicle wasn’t hurt.
