Unemployment Up in Most Southeast Neb. Counties

The unemployment rates for extreme Southeast Nebraska counties in January were mostly higher.
For Richardson County the January jobless rate was up 8-tenths to 6.6 percent which was among the six highest rates in the state.  Nemaha County was also among the six worst rates in the state with a 6.2 percent unemployment rate in January, up 8-tenths from December.
 Pawnee County continues to have the best unemployment numbers in the area with a 3.9 percent unemployment rate for January which was unchanged.  
In Johnson County the unemployment rate for Janauary was up 4-tenths to 4.1 percent.  Gage County unemployment was 3-tenths higher for the month at 4.9 percent and Otoe County was up 6-tenths to 4.8 percent. 
The Nebraska unemployment rate for January was 4 percent which was down from 4.1 percent. 
Thurston and Arthur counties had the states highest unemployment rate at 9 percent and Blaine County was right behind at 8.9 percent.
