EDGE Recognized During Community Development Week
Last week was Community Development Week, a program started in 1986 to remind Congress of the importance of the Community Development Block Grant Program
In a news release from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, Falls City Economic Development and Growth Enterprise, known as EDGE was recognized for the public and privately funded organizations efforts since it’s beginning in 2007.
Since the inception of EDGE, Falls City has realized nearly $120-million in new development. EDGE is one of the success stories celebrated across the state last week. Gary Hamer, Deputy Director of the Nebraska Department of Economic Development explains how the two groups work together. ( play audio :37 seconds )

Among the city’s accomplishments recently is expansion of Ag Growth International which acquired Airlanco last October and plans to create 15 new jobs generating more than $1 million in new wages and $1 million in new capital investment. The “Business Parkway” Industrial Road connecting the Industrial park with Highway 159; The Vision Inn Motel which is the cities first-ever tax increment financing project; the SNC $23.3 million “Fiber to the Home Network” linking every home and business with fiber optic capabilities and the recently announced project to upgrade the baseball and softball facility at a cost of more than $1.7-million.
