The deadline is quickly approaching for some major Farm Service Agency programs, according to information from the Richardson County FSA office.
Enrollment for 2010 crop losses under the Supplemental Revenue Assistance Payments program will end June 1st. Sign-up for the 2012 Direct and Counter-Cyclical Program and Average Revenue Election Program will also end June 1st.
Producers who sustained losses during the 2010 crop year should contact the Farm Service Agency to learn more about the SURE program. Sign-up for 2011 crop losses will be accepted this fall after the 2011 farm revenue data becomes available.
To be eligible for the 2010 SURE program, a farm must have at least a 10-percent production loss on a crop of economic significance. Farmers also need to have an insurance plan under the Federal Crop Insurance or the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program for all economically significant crops.
Richardson County farmers with qualifying losses are eligible for the SURE program since the county was designated a disaster area in 2010.
Contracts for the DCP and ACRE programs need to be signed and returned to the FSA office by June 1st. Payments for those programs will come out in October.
Also, the deadline to certify wheat and other fall-seeded crops is June 30th. All spring-seeded crops and C-R-P must be certified by July 15th.
For more information on any of these programs, contact your local FSA office. The number for the Richardson County office is 402-245-2401.
