A 22 year old Atchison man will serve 18 months in prison for battering a law enforcement officer.
Brandon Vandever was sentenced Monday to prison after Atchison County District Judge Martin Asher invoked a special rule in the case.
The felony charge typically carries presumptive probation, but due to prior convictions, including a parole violation which sent Vandever back to prison earlier this year, the judge invoked the rule.
He was charged after an October 29th incident in the Atchison County Jail where he shoved a corrections officer repeatedly during an interaction.
He was an inmate at the time of the incident, serving another sentence.
