Prescription drug abuse is the nations fastest-growing problem according to the Office of National Drug Control Policy. The DEA says an average of 6,000 persons per day abused prescription pain relievers for the first time in 2008. The Center for Disease Control says prescription drugs, including antidepresesants, are responsible for more overdose deaths than “street drugs” such as cocaine, heroin and amphetamines.
Again the hours of the Take Back Event in Auburn are 10 a-m until 2 p-m on Saturday, April 28th. You can drop medications off at either the Pamida parking lot or the Family Value Pharmacy in Auburn.
Osborne says the NADAA Coalition is happy these events are so well received. ( play audio :21 seconds )
