04/26/2012

An Atchison County Commission is commenting on the potential implementation of a countywide ambulance service.

Earlier, we told you at Wednesday’s Atchison County Commissioner meeting, American Medical Response made an introductory presentation to Commissioners about their services and interest in being the provider of countywide service.

County Commissioner Jeff Schuele says the discussion with AMR is preliminary, but they are looking into consolidating the current method of services of Atchison Hospital EMS for Kingman Road east and the Atchison County Volunteer EMS west of Kingman.

Commissioners authorized AMR to gather data over the next 45 to 60 days to potentially come back to them with a proposal.

In other topics, Commissioners established a timeline for the month of May to gather data to determine solid waste fees as part of their joint county proposal with the city of Atchison on recycling and solid waste.
