Second district Atchison County Commissioner Mike Bodenhausen has filed for election to office.
Clerk Pauline Lee says he filed by petition for the Republican primary earlier this week.
The rural Muscotah native was appointed at the beginning of this year to fill out the term of Commissioner Jerry Madden, who resigned.
Bodenhausen says he promised the precinct chairs that appointed him that he had things he still wants to accomplish in office.
He says some of his goals are to continue to serve the people of the district and to give back.
Bodenhausen hopes, if elected, to represent the district in two major projects the county will be undertaking(Play Audio :33 seconds)
Bodenhausen is the first person to file for the seat.
Candidates have until noon on June 1st to file.
