Recommendation Made to Close Two Nemaha County Roads
05/11/2012

Nemaha County Nebraska Commissioners approved the sale of the county’s 40-year-old crane during Wednesday’s meeting.
Commissioners approved the sale of a 1972 P-and-H Crane, along with two drag buckets, pile driver, clamshell, and leads, to Tim Holthus at a total price of $5,110.  Holthus’ bid was the only one the county received for the crane.
Commissioners also took steps to close portions of two county roads.  Mark Mainelli of Mainelli Wagner and Associates presented the board with letters of recommendation for the proposed closing of portions of 737 Road and 632 Avenue.  Both roads are located northwest of Brock.
Mainelli recommended that the board schedule public hearings on vacating both roads.  Commissioners did not schedule a date for the hearing this week.
In other business, the board approved the use of county property at the District 3 Shop in Johnson for the Huff and Puff Garden Tractor Pull on June 17th.
And the board authorized County Clerk Joyce Oakley to advertise for sealed bids for the purchase of an equipment trailer for the Road Department, and sealed bids for painting and striping the centerline on approximately seven miles of the county’s hard-surfaced roads.
